Did you know, when you call 911, you’re already speaking with one of the most important professionals in the chain of survival?
Emergency Dispatchers are highly trained professionals, responsible for quickly assessing emergencies, gathering essential information, and sending the appropriate responders to assist those in need, whether it be medical emergencies, fires, or crimes in progress. In many cases, dispatchers provide life-saving instructions while help is on the way. This can include guiding callers through CPR, controlling bleeding, or advising on how to stay safe until first responders arrive.
Emergency Dispatchers also ensure that responders in the field stay safe and have the resources they need to help others, by coordinating with other agencies from the local to federal levels.
April 13th-19th, 2025 has been designated as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and LCDPS recognizes the hard work and dedication of those Men and Women who answer the call each and every day.
From all of us at LCDPS, Thank you!
